A Tolland Youth Garden Workshop for kids ages 5 – 10

We'll explore garden magic where it begins - with seeds and soil.! Learn to make your own potting soil and seed starting pots. Pick from a variety of seeds to plant: flowers, herbs, vegetables. You can plant sunflower seeds for the GREAT SUNFLOWER PROJECT (see related post). Take your seedling home and watch it grow! Instructor: Kurt Werner, TYG member and CT Master Gardener candidate.
TOLLAND YOUTH GARDEN STEWARDS TRAINING

Fee for first timers: $10 Returning Stewards: no fee
This leadership training opportunity is for youth interested in exploring the joys and benefits of gardening with children and community service at the same time. Stewards will be asked to volunteer to work with adult instructors for at least three Tuesday morning sessions in the SOWING SEEDS OF SUNSHINE 2014 Youth Garden Summer Gardening Program at Crandall Park. If they wish, Stewards can complete requirements for certification as Junior Master Gardeners by the University of CT Tolland County Extension Service. Ten Stewards have been certified since 2012. YOUTH GARDEN FAIRY AND WIZARD FESTIVAL

FEE $5 ($10 family cap) LOCATION Crandall Pavilion and Tolland Youth Garden
Come spend an afternoon discovering the joy and delight of fairy and wizard houses! We’ll begin with storytelling, face painting, and crafts at Crandall Pavilion before journeying through the enchanted forest to the Tolland Youth Garden. Learn how to build your own fairy house from natural materials gathered near our Monarch Way Station. Enchanting fun for all ages but magical for ages 3-8! Fairy and wizard costume attire welcome.
